Why Valaroo exists

Every night when I was a boy, my grandfather told me a story.

I don’t remember most of the plots. I remember that he was there, every single night, and that the stories made me want more.

Today many children grow up far from their grandparents. Parents work long hours, often in a city that isn’t home. Nobody is doing anything wrong. The storyteller just isn’t in the house anymore.

Valaroo is my attempt to bring some of that back. Not to replace you. To give you something to do together when you’re tired and want to do right by your child.

Where the name comes from

Valar (வளர்) means to grow in Tamil. That’s the whole idea.

Who is behind it

I’m Lax. I’ve built websites for more than fifteen years, and I’m a dad. Valaroo started as an idea over two years ago. I’m building it carefully, one piece at a time.
